Postdoctoral fellowship (I year, renewable)
“Emergency, reliability of scientific knowledge and information”
Scientific context and description of the research topics
A degradation of the information environment is often underlined in the context of the Covid 19 pandemics: disinformation, misinformation, conspiracy, diffuse distrust are deemed on the rise. The project will critically discuss this idea of a deteriorated information environment which would negatively impact any democratic debate involving scientific inputs: What are its observables? Which concepts are mobilized? Can one identify significant changes compared to previous periods? Can information be considered as a sanitary parameter?
A specificity of the project is not to limit itself to the figure of the layperson or to communities mobilized around scientific and technological issues, but to integrate elements of the information environment coming from scientific communities. The project will thus deal with the normative requirements associated with public debate in times of “urgent science”. It will focus for instance on the impact of a regime of “urgent science” on research practice and communication practice towards the public and decision makers.
This project is part of the CNRS broader project MAMA (see its description here <https://www.hs3pe-crises.fr/projet-mama/> in French)
