You may find my GenderSci Lab materials and publications, which includes a teaching module with PowerPoint slides, helpful: https://www.genderscilab.org/covid-19-project

Hi All,

Can anyone recommend a good, somewhat non-technical overview of some of the methodological issues involved in estimating COVID-19 (or other pandemic/epidemic) infection rates and deaths? If the overview mentions issues related to causes (direct, indirect, co-factors, etc.), all the better. I am looking for something for a sophomore-junior level class, something that will alert them to the need to look into data. But I don't want them to get bogged down or scared away, thinking that they will have to master the statistical techniques.

You can reply to me off list at jramsey at smith.edu<mailto:jramsey at smith.edu> unless you think others might be interested in this issue.

Many thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Best,
Jeff
