Dear colleagues,
It turns out that many institutions have free access to downloading the ebook, plus a reduced price on 'MyCopy softcover'. Check the access by visiting the book webpage while logged on to the university network: https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-3-031-56049-1
This has saved me from asking students to buy the book, which is quite expensive from Norway.
Best wishes,
Rani

Subject: New Philosophy of Science book
Dear colleagues,
We are delighted to share the news that our book Philosophy of Science book<https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-3-031-56049-1> is now published with Palgrave. Attached is the Preface and list of contents. We think the book shows a new way to teach philosophy of science that can appeal to both philosophers and non-philosophers, with more emphasis on what we call applied philosophy of science and on social aspects of science.
The book is written as a textbook, with sections after each chapter with repetition questions, sample essay questions, further readings and links to free internet resources. The first part is our own take on the traditional debates within philosophy of science. The second part is from our own research on philosophical bias in science. The third part is a short presentation and analysis of 8 cases of scientific controversy, to show how philosophy can be an analytic tool to disentangle non-factual disagreement.
About this book: This textbook is a comprehensive, engaging, and user-friendly introduction to philosophy of science written by a philosopher and a scientist. By exploring traditional debates within philosophy of science, as well as analysing contemporary scientific controversies for philosophical bias, the reader is invited to reflect upon how philosophical assumptions influence scientific theory, methods, and practice.
Key features:
* Is an accessible introduction to philosophy of science written by a philosopher and a scientist.
* Includes some of the many important contributions from women philosophers and scientists.
* Demonstrates the philosophical influences on scientific thinking, practice, and expert disagreement.
* Applies philosophy of science to analyse some specific real-life cases of scientific controversy.
* Shows the philosophical influences on contemporary science.
If you are interested in checking out the ebook, there is the possibility to contact Palgrave and request comp copies here: compcopy at springernature.com<mailto:compcopy at springernature.com>. When making the request, just state that you wish to consider the book for possible adoption as a course textbook.
Best wishes,
Rani Lill Anjum and Elena Rocca
